World’s First Foldable Screen Laptop From Lenovo: ThinkPad X1 Fold

Lenovo announces the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 fold, the world’s first folding display computer, with its announcement at the CES 2020 events. The laptop with foldable display offers users different modes of operation that give them flexibility to use.

Lenovo unveiled a laptop concept with foldable display last May, saying it would be introduced in 2020. At CES 2020, the company announced the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 fold, the world’s first foldable display laptop, making the concept a reality.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold features an OLED display with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels, reaching 13.3 inches when fully opened. The laptop provides a variety of configurations that you can use, such as folding or a regular laptop. The X1 Fold also includes a keyboard mode, just like other laptops.

Lenovo also offers some software features in the ThinkPad X1 fold to make its foldable structure more useful. Since Windows 10X, the new operating system developed for dual-screen devices, has not yet been released, Lenovo uses Windows 10 Pro on the laptop. But the company plans to release a version with Windows 10x later this year.

With a folding computer, you can compare documents on two screens while making changes or taking notes in one presentation, while making a video call on one screen and opening a different window on the other. So both screens can perform different tasks at the same time. Of course you can also choose to use only the keyboard on the lower screen. Lenovo also announced an external stand that can use the 13.3-inch display as a regular display with a wireless keyboard.

Powered by Intel processors, the ThinkPad X1 Fold comes with 8 GB of RAM, up to 1 TB of NVMe SSD storage, 5G and LTE support, Bluetooth 5.0 and a battery offering 11 hours of lifespan. Lenovo said the laptop will be available in mid-2020, with a starting price of $ 2,499.
